The Sherlock Holmes Canon
sherlock holmes is the greatest classic detective. There were detectives before him – particularly Poe’s creation, Auguste Dupin in The Murders in the Rue Morgue – and too many after him, including Poirot and Maigret, to count!
But none possesses the singular certainty, intellectual prowess, the remarkable powers of deduction and disguise, the occasional bursts of physical strength and courage with which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle endowed his hero. Helped, of course, by a pipe of tobacco and indulgences in other substances, a spot of violin playing and his faithful partner Dr Watson, Sherlock Holmes moves unerringly forward to the solution – even, sometimes, where there doesn’t seem to be a crime!
Each generation of actors produces an ideal reader of these evergreen stories. And for our time David Timson has no peer, as has been recognised repeatedly by reviewers, collectors and The District Messenger, the newsletter of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London.

All these recordings are presented with classical music adding extra verve and tension, making this series truly collectable.
David Timson has now completed the entire canon, a remarkable achievement which has been nearly a decade in the doing. All the short stories and the longer stories will be available during 2008.
