Richard Burton Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas

London, 1954. Richard Burton is about to make the definitive recording of Dylan Thomas’s most famous play – Under Milk Wood. Sometimes called ‘the Welsh Ulysses’, this play represents Thomas at his very best, brought vividly to life over half-a-century ago by a stunning cast. Naxos AudioBooks is re-releasing this historic recording, accompanied by two radio shorter plays, read by Dylan Thomas with a full cast which give a fascinating insight into the genesis of Under Milk Wood.
Thomas’s masterpiece is shot through with his distinctive humour, but Jaroslav Hašek’s Czech classic The Good Soldier Švejk – also out this month – is a true tour-de-force of satirical comedy. Josef Švejk, the novel’s protagonist, is a creation of genius: bumbling, cunning and good-natured, he stumbles through the absurdity and horror of war.
Gerard Manley Hopkins is now recognised as a seminal figure in the development of English literature. This month we’re releasing another title in our acclaimed Great Poets series, showcasing his poetry.
Our final two releases this September are unabridged classics: The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins (featuring a full cast); and the last two books from T. H. White’s Arthurian epic The Once and Future King – The Candle in the Wind & The Book of Merlyn.

NEW RELEASES – SEPTEMBER 2008
