Information about RSS news feeds and podcasts

RSS, or ‘Really Simple Syndication’, is an easy way to see when websites have added new content. The latest content, news headlines, articles, and even audio (‘podcasts’) can be accessed as soon as they are published, without having to visit and search a site each day.

RSS feeds are a special kind of code, designed to be machine readable. In order to be able to read them easily, you will need ‘news reader’ software, or a web browser capable of reading and displaying RSS feeds.

Once you have installed suitable software, you can ‘subscribe’ to RSS feeds you are interested in. The way in which you subscribe depends on the reader software, but commonly, you can subscribe by dragging the orange RSS button from the web page onto the news reader, or by copying the URL from the button and pasting it into the news reader.
